American Dream Response

The author in American Dream had the goal to live out this so called American Dream. He wanted to grow up like millions before him living life to its fullest. He has gone through many different types of social and cultural revelations. For example, he had to endure a very tough childhood. Also, he had to somewhat hide being a gay individual because he felt it would effect what others had to say about him. I think the quote on page 6 is very inspiring. It really shows what he feels about being a gay individual and that living the so called dream can't happen until you accept who you are as a person. Also, this can't happen until others accept who you are. I agree with the author on this point. If you are living with a burden on your shoulder you are not living the dream.
